I Wore My “Hot Pants” To The Coffee Shop!

Follow Your Heart

I decided to carry last year’s word of the year – Elevate –  into 2024 since I didn’t really hit my stride with elevating my personal style until a few months ago.

Plus, it’s a great word to apply to all areas of life, year after year.

That’s how I found myself wearing my “hot pants” to the coffee shop on a Sunday, with no other plans to go anywhere else!

For a long time, I  just threw on jeans, a shirt and black canvas shoes in the winter and flip flops in the summer to head to the coffee shop (and makeup…I’m an everyday makeup girlie, always have been).

I looked nice but I wasn’t very accessorized or styled. I wasn’t elevated

There’s nothing wrong with this. It worked for me for years and years without thinking twice about it.

But last year I decided I wanted to play around with stepping it up a bit. And so I have.

And on Sunday that meant putting my “hot pants” in the rotation and wearing the same Freebird boots I wore in my photoshoot (another thing that sat in it’s box until “the right occasion” came along).

(This story is first about being intentional with my word of the year, which stems from a desire to be what the word represents to me, and to share the unfolding of that intentionality…

…and secondly, it’s to inspire anyone who resonates with the story itself to do something similar.

So if elevating your personal style is not of interest to you, that’s okay!

Simply use this story to be more intentional with the changes you desire to make, whatever they may be).

When I got home from the coffee shop, I felt inspired to share a bit about it on stories on Instagram that I made into a YouTube video HERE.

The video itself is very casual (I’m standing and talking and then I walk up to the camera every so often to check my one minute countdown for each “story clip” that I’ve spliced together into a three minute clip).

I also share a lesson about a small fear that came up and had me contracting a bit before moving forward with sharing the video on stories (and now here on the blog/email) in the last minute of the video that I think is so good for all of us to live by.

It’s another commitment I’ve made to myself in 2024. Catch it HERE

Always Shine Brightly,
Shanna
