Aligning With Your Unique Path Requires Listening
If you find yourself in a situation where you’re riding someone else’s coattail, be willing to get off that train and align with your unique path.
If your heart is telling you something is off…that you’re meant for something different…LISTEN TO IT.
Be willing to change directions and course correct.
I know it can be scary…
…especially when you feel you’re already hitched to a good thing (or a safe thing).
But if that “good thing” isn’t “your thing”, you’re doing a disservice to yourself AND the people who are meant to benefit from you doing your thing.
I found myself in this exact situation 12 years ago when I believed my purpose was to co-found a non-profit that focused on providing an education to kids in the developing world.
I’d been living in Guatemala doing that exact same thing and it felt like the most purposeful thing I’d ever done…
…which was something I’d been yearning and searching for for nearly a decade.
But as I finished my time in Guatemala and began pursuing the non-profit with my co-founder (and dear friend), something felt off.
At first, I ignored the signs because the idea of not knowing my purpose (and starting from scratch) felt way scarier than continuing.
With time, I started to see I was riding my friend’s coattails.
I’d hitched myself to a very good thing but it wasn’t my thing.
Making that change was scary for many reasons.
One, it meant starting the search for purpose over (devastating and overwhelming).
Two, it meant dissolving my partnership with my friend (that conversation felt very scary…so did the effects of knowing we wouldn’t be living our lives together as would have been the case with staying the course).
But it had to be done if I was to align with my unique purpose.
I received one piece of direct inner guidance prior to making this decision.
The rest was hazy, unclear and scary.
The following year led to reading A Course in Miracles…
…which resulted in the inspiration for writing A Call to the Heart…
…which, ultimately, led me to sharing, teaching and coaching on the spiritual things I was put here to share.
It led to my unique path.
But it took unhitching myself from things that didn’t fit even when the path ahead wasn’t clear.
It took listening to my own inner guidance WITHOUT overriding it with fearful reasoning.
We are equipped with our own guidance system.
If something feels off, be willing explore that.
When guidance arises, be willing to make changes to bring yourself in alignment with what’s being shown to you.
Be willing to not know where it’s leading by trusting in the goodness of the guidance that’s being provided.
The more you do this, the clearer this inner sense of direction becomes.
And the best way to unearth it, is to listen to your inner promptings.
I get that sometimes we can’t hear these promptings very clearly or we hear them and feel too scared to follow them.
We often have belief systems that don’t support us in following our heart’s desires which makes doing so feel scary or even impossible.
But what if there was a way to see the world that DOES support you in believing in and following your heart’s desires?
What if there was as way to help you change how you interact with your experience that supports you in designing your life around your heart’s desires?
How you see the world (your belief system) and how you interact in the world (the energy that backs your actions) can all be consciously chosen such that it supports the way you desire to see and interact in the world.
I’m currently accepting one-on-one clients where I help you consciously choose beliefs that support you in aligning with the desires of your heart and intentionally embody the version of yourself who is living out that reality.
Together we look at what is keeping you from believing in and embodying the version of yourself who is living a life designed around your heart’s desires and we move into a more aligned way of seeing and being.
If you feel called to work with me, it would be an honor to serve you in this process. To get started, email me at shannacovey@gmail.com!
