The Best Gift My Mom Ever Gave Me

Shifting out of Ego and Into Spirit

I can’t imagine how hard the job of motherhood is, but I thank all who embody this role.

I do know what it’s like to be raised by an incredible mother and to have a relationship with her that’s evolved from parent-child to friend and confidant.

One of the biggest things I always thank her for is raising us without spilling unhealed stuff onto us.

It’s the unhealed stuff that creates the tricky dynamics in any relationship.

It’s also understandable that the unhealed stuff exists since it’s what we’re here to learn and grow from (when we decide to look at and heal it).

I find it powerful when anyone, at any age, in any relationship, decides to look at their unhealed stuff.

But I find it exponentially powerful when parents are able to do this early in their children’s lives as a way of breaking patterns that would otherwise be unconsciously passed onto the next generation.

Even though I won the mom lottery I still had (and have) “unhealed stuff” I picked up from other relationships and experiences.

A big part of the human walk is about dealing with dysfunctional dynamics so we’re able to heal them.

Even though they can’t be fully avoided, setting a super strong foundation through a child’s most immediate relationships sure does offer a leg up in this emotional journey!

Again, I commend anyone who is committed to inner healing as it’s not only helping you feel more peace and power in your own life, it’s also helping the collective since you’re removing one more dysfunctional dynamic from the collective and replacing it with a more functional one.

And if you’re doing this within your immediate family environment, especially if you’re in the midst of raising the next generation, you’re saving your children the emotional heartache (as well as time and energy) of having to face and heal any of your unhealed stuff that would have inadvertently “spilled onto them”.

This is meant to be inspiring, not discouraging so if you feel overwhelmed by this task or guilty for any spill over that may have occurred, that is the exact opposite of my intention.

If this is occurring, please stop and forgive yourself.

You were and are doing your best. We all are.

Our journey is about growth, no matter when or how it occurs.

If a dynamic gets created that you’re less than thrilled about, trust that this was the needed dynamic and process to learn the lesson through.

Trust that the necessary growth is occurring when it’s meant to (i.e., when each soul is ripe and ready for it).

Even though I’m a proponent of doing this work sooner than later, I still trust in the highly individualized nature (and timing) of each person’s journey.

I do think we’re living in a time where introspection, self-reflection and inner growth is being valued more than it ever has which is enabling more and more souls to be ripe and ready for this type of inner work, no matter where you are in life and/or what dynamics you may have inadvertently created and/or fallen into.

Because of this timing, I also think today’s parents are in the best position to break these cycles.

I believe this is occurring as apart of the natural slip stream of the collective awakening that’s currently taking place.

I encourage you to take full advantage of this slip stream, if it resonates!

Always Shine Brightly,

Shanna
