I love reading inspiring stories about people who are ignited with a passion to make a difference. I’m especially drawn to stories about educating children in the developing world. It’s what led me to spend close to a year volunteering as a teacher in Guatemala in 2010.

Most recently I read The Promise of a Pencil, which chronicles Pencils of Promise founder, Adam Braun’s, journey from initially depositing $25 into a bank account to begin raising funds to build just one school in Laos to building more than 200 schools in the developing world, in less than five years!

He has sparked one of the fastest growing movements to engage people, young and old, regardless of status, to take action towards doing the impossible: making education accessible to the 57 million kiddos who currently lack access to schools across the globe.

I feel set on fire with a desire to help. (His book tends to have that affect on people!)
